Incubate Your Eggs
If you receive an egg, make sure to start incubating it ASAP. An unlimited use incubator is available to all Pokémon Trainers, but it can only hold one egg at a time. Sometimes you might get an extra incubator by levelling up or visiting a Pokéstop, but these are one use only. The main thing is to always incubate your eggs and don’t forget to keep the app turned on in order for your steps to go towards the distance required for an egg to hatch. Steps won’t be counted if your phone is off, or the app isn’t open.
Use Battery Saver Mode
By tapping on the Pokéball icon at the bottom centre of your screen, you’ll see a cog icon at the top right. Here you can turn on or off battery saver mode. What this does is lets you turn your phone upside down to display a Pokémon logo to consume minimal power, whilst still keeping track of the steps you are taking.
How to Get Pikachu Easily
At the very beginning of the game you’ll be given an option to receive Charmander, Squirtle or Bulbasaur. If you refuse to choose from one of these, eventually Pikachu will pop out for you to catch.
Special Attacks in Gym Battles
To do a special attack during a Gym battle, press and hold your finger down on your Pokémon when attacking. But be careful when using this method as most battles might not last long enough for you to unleash a special attack.
Too Many Duplicates? Transfer Them
You’re most likely going to catch a lot of the same type of Pokémon. When you do, get rid of the ones with the lowest CP (Combat Power) by transferring them to Professor Willow. To do this, select the Pokémon you want to get rid of and scroll down until you find the Transfer button. Transferring a Pokémon will grant you a Candy for that specific type of Pokémon.
Bring Pokémon To You
Pokémon Lures help draw Pokémon to your location, so if you’re stuck at work or sick in bed, just pop off a lure and for thirty minutes you’ll be the stinkiest and most popular person to nearby Pokémon. You can also place Pokémon Lure Modules onto Pokéstops and Pokémon will swarm towards that location. Not only for you, but also for other Pokémon Trainers.
Sweeten the Deal with Razz Berries
Coming across stronger Pokémon, you might notice it’s harder to capture them. If you get your hands on some Razz Berries, you can throw these to a Pokémon to make it easier to catch.
Blue Glow
If you’re wondering why your Pokémon have a blue glow behind them, it’s to indicate which were caught within the passed 24 hours.
You Can Catch Them All
It doesn’t matter which starter Pokémon you choose as you get the opportunity to catch the rest out in the wild.
Eevee Evolutions
In Pokémon GO there isn’t such thing as a water stone, fire stone etc. So when you evolve Eevee, the outcome is random. You might get a Flareon, Jolteon or Vaporeon. You could even end up with two of the same evolved version of Eevee.
Stay Safe and Don’t Trespass
Keep an eye on your surroundings while playing Pokémon GO and don’t stay too obsessed with looking at your screen. Remember, your device will vibrate if a Pokémon appears nearby, so you can keep an eye on the ground so you don’t walk into the oncoming path of a car, fall into a river, or step in dog poop. Also, don’t go trespassing on anyone’s property in order to get to a Pokémon. Just find another way around.
