3D printing is becoming more and more popular as technology gets more advanced. We’re already seeing things like 3D printed food, human body parts and machinery. It’s obviously taking the world by storm! And because it’s so popular and readily available, it’s a perfect opportunity for game developers to start marketing merchandise based on their games. U-Dimensions allow for planet-friendly, 3D printed collectibles to be generated and ordered online. Read more about U-Dimensions 3D printed collectibles below!

There’s something altogether satisfying about having a 3D printed collectible of your favourite game character, and with 3D printing becoming more accessible to everyone around the world, the team at U-Dimensions is there to help out!
Aiming mainly at indie game developers, U-Dimensions are providing an online service where you can generate and print out your game characters in beautiful detail.
The final products are planet-friendly as they are made using recyclable materials. Each printout is crafted from full-colour sandstone powder which you might think sounds a bit strange. But with an initial grainy feeling, once the products are coated, they come out feeling satisfyingly smooth. Some of the more advanced materials that will be available are metal, rubber and even chocolate!
Printouts can come in heaps of different styles such as, but not limited to: cups, phone cases, lampshades and USBs. The design team at U-Dimensions will start working on models this month, so keep an eye out for a list of products on their website – www.u-dimensions.com
What kind of pricing can you expect to see? Well Christine Guo, the founder of U-Dimensions, says prices will vary depending on the size of the printout. For example, a 3cm charm in full colour sandstone will be $15, a ring will be $20 and a phone holder will be $100. Shipping will not be included.
With around 140 indie game developers who have signed up to try the platform at launch, U-Dimensions looks to be something very unique to offer for game devs.

U-Dimensions will be aiming to fully launch by March this year and will do a crowd-funding game in February.
U-Dimensions are currently looking for more indie game developers to have their merchandise printed so please shoot an email to info@u-dimensions.com if you’re interested in marketing your game in such a cute and innovative way!
