Fall Review

Aesthetic Charm

Fall uses a minimalist and beautiful art style which utilises 3D graphics for the balls’ animation. So far I’ve only unlocked six balls but have managed to preview a couple of other balls. Each one is drawn so lovingly that you’ll genuinely be excited to earn enough gems to win a new ball.

Abilities and extra animations of the balls are really interesting to look at and provide an extra element of challenge to fully see what the abilities do.

Fall Balls

ARGH THEY’RE SO CUTE!

The music and sound effects honestly don’t grate on your ears but there are times you’ll find yourself whistling the background music as you’re walking down the street. For some people that can be good or bad; personally I found it a bit frustrating that I couldn’t get it out of my head, but let that bear no reflection of the game. Just my head.

Minor Issues

Fall Lanterns

The planet is doomed…

Along with every game come a few frustrating little faults. Unfortunately Fall does suffer from a couple hither and thither.

Sometimes it will feel like your screen isn’t responding correctly to the strokes you’re trying to paint. This might result in your ball getting stuck in a tight place that proves even more difficult to escape from, due to the paint brush not working how you want it to.

I’m not too sure if it’s just my phone, but considering the minimalist art style of Fall and the simple gameplay, you wouldn’t think it to use up that much battery. However, playing for a good twenty minutes or so resulted in around forty percent of my battery being used up. Not only that but my phone felt incredibly hot afterwards.

Final Thoughts

Why did I only give Fall a three out of five? Don’t get me wrong, Fall is a great game that’ll have you competing against friends and spending a very long time unlocking all the balls, but the concept is still quite simple and almost feels a bit too easy at times.

Perhaps it would benefit from a few extra game modes as time goes by like a “Survival” mode where coming in contact with anything results in game over or “Time Attack” which could require you to get as far as you can in as little time as possible.

Obviously Fall is still a baby in Pootikat Productions hands, so it has a bit of growing to do. But I really do see great potential in it once it has fully matured and can’t wait to see the product of Pootikat Productions’ nurturing.
